Alice Eley Jones of Murfreesboro, N.C., is a writer and historian, specializing in North Carolina and African American history. She taught history at North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., from 1987 to 1992. In 1992, she began a history consulting business called Historically Speaking and, in 2002, began a publishing company, Minnie Troy Publishers.
